Celery has been widely used as both a food and a medication since the Middle Ages. The ancient Greeks used celery to make a wine called selenites, which was served as an award at athletic games. Nature's Own Celery & Juniper is high in minerals – hence its advantage as a herbal diuretic. Pharmaceutical diuretics tend to cause a loss of minerals along with water. However herbal diuretics such as celery and parsley are often high in minerals which counter-acts the potential depletion of potassium and other minerals.

Juniper is native to northern temperate areas of Asia, North America and Europe. Commonly used to flavour the alcoholic beverage gin, juniper has toning and water releasing actions on the kidneys and is often used to flush excess fluid from the body.
